For the Horse
- Make sure that you and your horse are ready to go at least 15 minutes before your session to ensure that everything will go as smoothly as possible.
- Do your best to ensure your horse is calm and least stressed as possible so they are not anxious for your session.
- If you bathe your horse, make sure they will be dry before your session. If they are wet at all, it will be seen in the pictures. If you can, it is recommended you bathe the day before.
- If it is buggy outside, don't forget your fly spray!
- Groom your horse as if you were getting ready for a show. Make those white spots and that coat sparkle!
- Your horses feet will likely be in the picture, so make sure they're clean and sparkling with some hoof polish that dust and dirt will not cling to.
- Brush that mane and tail! Keeping it tangle free before the session will ensure that your horses hair looks pristine.
For the Rider
- Make sure your clothes are clean and as spotless as possible.
- Bring an extra set of clothes if the ones you wear to the farm before your session get dirty or ripped.
- If your session includes more than one outfit change, make sure your other outfit options are ready to go for when you change
- Bring a hair brush, makeup, or other things you can use to touch up your looks before the session. You want to make sure you're sparkling as much as your horse will be!
- Clean your horses tack before the session!
- Make sure to pick appropriate tack for your horse. If you don't like the look of a rainbow halter and lead, make sure to bring another halter and lead!
- Be on time. This is important as we have a limited amount of time together for our session! Plan accordingly as any delay will cut into our session time.
- When picking outfits, stay away from bold or busy prints! It will distract the eye away from the lovely Horse and Rider. Textures, layers, and accessories for outfits are great!
